וַיְהִי֙ הֲנָקֵ֣ל לֶכְתּ֔וֹ בְּחַטֹּ֖אות יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־נְבָ֑ט וַיִּקַּ֨ח אִשָּׁ֜ה אֶת־אִיזֶ֗בֶל בַּת־אֶתְבַּ֙עַל֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ צִידֹנִ֔ים וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֣ד אֶת־הַבַּ֔עַל וַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ לֽוֹ׃
Und es begab sich, als wäre es für ihn eine leichte Sache gewesen, in den Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, zu wandeln, und er nahm Isebel, die Tochter Ethbaals, des Königs der Zidonier, zur Frau und ging und diente Baal und betete ihn an.

And worshiped the [idol] Baal. In addition to Yerovom’s calves.5The Gemara in Maseches Sanhedrin 102b states that Achov’s minor sins were like Yerovom’s major ones. If so, why are Yerovom’s sins emphasized here? Because he opened the way to sin for the Bnei Yisroel.
